The First Batch
Here is the first batch of film based photos from me, Chris. More about me and my personal vision for this blog below.
Oh, and click on the thumbs to get a better view of these 4 images.
So, Loc approached me via Twitter (find me here) about starting a blog solely dedicated to film photography. I quickly agreed, as I love to shoot film. This was a perfect opportunity to go back to shooting film for a purpose.
So, what is my intention? I plan on being fairly experimental with my film. These first few photos are pretty standard, as I used an X-700 Minolta film SLR with a couple different lenses. Primarily I used a 35mm f/1.4. But in the future I intend on turning that X-700 into a pinhole camera, but altering a body cap. I also have a collection of antique cameras that shoot a range of different types of film that I intend to try out. You can see a few of those here, on my blog.
For these first few I just used Walmart to develop the film. I will likely use a better developer in the future, and hopefully at some point will be doing the developing myself. I have done this much in the past, but I no longer have the equipment to do so. As for printing and editing, these posted will be very little editing. If I am able to do it in a darkroom I will. If not, I will use Photoshop only to edit to the level that I know I can in a real darkroom. In other words, I will limit to exposure, burning, and dodging, and that’s about it.
So, I hope you enjoy the journey that Loc and I take through this blog and looking at what has now become an alternative process. Enjoy the warmth of film and the tactility of it. And do please comment below.
Cheers, C
