I noticed in the past couple of years, the common detergent bottles had a little design update that I absolutely love. The update is very simple, but I think it extends the product's life by a ton (depends on usage obviously).
The update is to the nozzle (Fig 2) and cap design (Fig 3) of the bottle. In the past, the cap would get filled up with detergent, emptied, and then replaced back on top of the bottle. However, the remaining detergent in the cap would inevitably drip down the side of the bottle in the most unsightly way. Also, what a waste.
This ingenious new design creates a funnel in the nozzle, allowing any leftover detergent in the cap to drip back into the bottle. What a beauty! No mess, no waste, just good product design. The brand I used came from Target, but I'm hopeful that this is the new standard for all detergent bottles.
